If you are new to counselling the profession can appear daunting, therefore I recommend you follow the links in the paragraphs below for more technical information on what I offer and how I can help.
To struggle is deeply human but to struggle alone with distressing thoughts and emotions is true suffering. As a therapeutic counsellor I can help you in managing and overcoming distressing states. Relationships can heal and having a counsellor you trust, is having someone that can help get you through get through difficult periods effectively. I offer my services by being dedicated to you and your challenges, so you can live the life you want moving past what may currently be holding you back.
I also hope you may discover that counselling is not all about overcoming suffering. I have a strong background in teaching methods of managing stress and anxiety that can be adapted to personal development. Using these methods and the counselling relationship, I can offer you skills in developing self-reliance so you can be more effective in successfully meeting your goals. Investing in yourself is one of the best investments you can make.
My practice is founded in Person-centred Therapy, from here I endeavour to provide a safe, empathic and non-judgemental environment to facilitate a therapeutic relationship. The counselling process can be challenging but with the supportive counselling relationship established, we can courageously explore together. Using deep, honest conversation we will unfold your issue, having assurance that truth and collaborative investigation can bring about positive transformation.
My practice is also informed by an integrative approach using theories from psychological schools of Psychoanalysis, Humanistic Psychology and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy. I have a deep appreciation for the whole psychological profession and a love for the philosophical traditions that underlie much of those professional frameworks.
Finally, due to my background as a meditation teacher my practice has foundation in me being deeply present with you. I consider developing the capacity to be present in the moment highly effective for both counsellor and client. Through sharing tools of meditation and mindfulness, I can help you develop these skills if appropriate and desired.
I hope this information simulates your interest and that you feel comfortable contacting me to find the change you are seeking. If so, I would be honoured in having the opportunity to work with you.
